First-Time Buyer FAQ

The questions everyone asks but nobody wants to feel silly asking. Here are honest answers.

How much do I need for a down payment?
Not as much as you think. Conventional loans can go as low as 3% down. FHA loans are 3.5%. VA loans for eligible veterans are 0% down. Let me walk you through your options.
How much are closing costs?
Closing costs typically run 2-5% of the purchase price. On a $400,000 home, that is roughly $8,000 to $20,000. Some of these can be negotiated with the seller or rolled into certain loan programs.
How long does the whole process take?
From start to close, most buyers close in 30-45 days after their offer is accepted. The home search itself varies, but most of my clients find their home within 4-8 weeks.
Am I even able to do this?
